The triumph of democracy

I don't know how many of you followed the Moussaoui trial, for the uninformed, he was only 9/11 conspirer that was caught. He has been sentenced to life in prisonment without the chance for parole.

If this had been a theocracy, he would have been publicly hung or if this had been a authoritarian* regime he would have been in the line of a firing squad. I can't be glad enough that I live in a democracy. I know enough paper and webspace have been spent on all the taunts of Moussaoui during before and after the trial, but that only speaks of his ideology not ours. I think in this era of cynical extremism, this was a much needed short in the arm for democracy. Want to be informed check this out.

*Bush Bashers (I am on the fence), this is still a democracy as much as you would want to believe otherwise. The fact that you are not in jail is the clinching evidence.

Well, that's the price we pay for democracy..put a "criminal" behind bar for a lifetime..and show him some love..give him food three times a day..a nice protected environment..a lot of rules to follow..and the rest of the world can be assured that we have kept one bad person off the street..So what if he keeps using up valuable resources that could keep another poor person from making a decent living through honest means..I guess what would happen to society if everyone becomes mentally ill and needs to be housed either in psychiatric facilities or in prisons? A danger to themselves or to others warrants such extreme measure..Who will bear the cost? I guess monkeys and apes aren't faced with that scenario yet..So much for evolutionary adaptations!!!!

It is definitely hard to quantify punishment!!

It is not hard to quantify it when it is burning fire..that is a true test of whether a person is guilty or not..In the olden days, if one committed a crime..it was an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth..so if a person committed murder, it was death penalty for the murderer..but you would need at least two witnesses..Moses ran away because he had killed an egyptian who was unfair to the Hebrew slave..when he stepped in to break a fight between two of his own tribe, they asked him..are you also going to kill us..In the ancient days according to Jewish law..if a person committed a crime and ran away to a place of refuge (usually a city), he was safe..in the modern world folks still follow that..they flee to a country where they have no extradition treaty..However if you are caught, with a good lawyer, your punishment might not befit your crime. So tell me what befits the punishment of sinners like you and me..or do we have an advocate who pleads our case (Father, forgive them for they know not what they do!!!), yet..do we repent and change our ole ways or just go about breaking God's law everyday of our lives until it is too late (we die in our sins and have to face God on judgment day). We have to give an account of every word and deed that we have spoken and done during our lifetime..I prefer Salvation as a free gift given to us by God himself through Grace..Jesus said, My Grace is sufficient for thee..Take up our cross and walk with the Master..Simon did enroute to Golgotha..He calls us by name..Here I am, Lord is what Samuel said..Every one is given the same opportunity to repent before it is too late. What do you think, Maan..Is it too late?? Today, if you will hear His voice and make that choice..it is not too late..Better late than never..
